VISITORS!!
As of late we have had quite a few visitors. Our first visitor was Fred, who attends our home church. Fred came for a week to catch the vision of the school and encourage us in our work. It was well-timed! We had some troubles with our truck while he was here and he had a white-knuckle trip being towed behind us in the school’s white truck! We could not have gotten the truck in without him. We had a good visit with him and are so thankful he could come.
We also had two gentlemen from Gospelink’s Malawi project come for a few days. Tim had been here to visit earlier in January and needed to come and get some things he had left here. He brought Jeremiah with him this time. It was a good fellowship time for all and great to have a few extra hands for a few days (we even got one of the bathrooms painted!).
Our current set of visitors has been Brian’s parents, Carole and Wendell. They were able to come and spend a little over two weeks with us. That was definitely God’s timing too! Things are getting very busy around here to prepare for summer, so God knew we would need a little time to relax a bit, refresh, and get rested up before three months of summer teams. We took them to a market, to the safari lodge and also the reptile park. It was great to have two extra pairs of hands to do some of the things we’ve been wanting to do with the kids.
COLLEGE NEWS
Currently the students at the college are break. They will return on April 15th to do some preparation work for the teams that will be arriving. From April 20th to the end of July they will be doing two-week intensive modules with teachers from the United States who come with teams. They will have class in the morning, and then help with the construction projects around the school and their gardens in the afternoon. During that time there will also be up to 25 national pastors from around Zambia doing construction in the morning and training time with the teachers in the afternoon. From mid-May to mid-July there will be US teams here every other week to assist in the construction of the school and encouragement of the preachers. After a week at the school the teams will then go to the Lusaka area to do ministry sharing the Gospel through classroom talks, orphanage visits, door to door evangelism, and the Jesus film.
The gardens continue to grow. The sunflowers and corn we planted using the FARMING GOD’S WAY method are doing very well. We have begun to eat some vegetables out of the garden and it looks like we will have raspberries soon too!
We are continuing to develop the infrastructure needed to get and keep the college running smoothly. This has included working on the roads, communication, electrification, banking; all those things that make a school go. We were reminded by one of our blog readers, “Ministry happens where we are, with who we are with, and those contacts are as, or are more important than the job (mission) we came to do.” So while we aren’t spending as much time on agriculture as we’d like, we are thankful for the ministry God has given us to do in this time.
