CONTAINER UPDATE!

On Wednesday, May 7th the crane finally came!  Our container was picked up and loaded for a move to the rail yards in Minneapolis to be sent on to New York.  From New York it will travel on May 23rd to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.  Its scheduled arrival there is June 23rd.  From there it can take 2 weeks or more to make it to Lusaka, Zambia depending on how customs goes at the Zambia/Tanzania border.  Once in Lusaka, a crane and trucking service will be hired to get it to the bible college.  Yes, if you do the math, there is a very strong possibility it will not make it to the school before Brian needs to leave.  Your prayers are urgently requested in covering this container and making everything work out just perfect.  There are some specific prayer requests in the Prayer & Praise section.  THANK YOU!!

                           

 

On Saturday, May 17th Brian will be leaving (has left) to spend two months in Zambia.  During this time he will work on building our home.  This includes clearing the land, pouring cement, laying block, building rafters for the roof, and getting everything else done that he can before the container arrives.  God willing the container will arrive while he is still there and he will be able to do some of the inside work as well. 

He will also use this time to develop relationships with the national pastors and their families who will also be living at the bible school.  Throughout the summer about 150 U.S. team members will also be coming through working on building projects for the school (classrooms, bathhouse/kitchen area, student cabins).  He is  hoping to develop some relationships with them as well.

CHC – Service/Mission Project Walk-a-Thon Thursday, May 22nd

We are excited to announce our Christian Homeschool Co-op’s first annual service/mission project.  We will be participating in a “walk-a-thon” at Sibley State Park on Thursday, May 22nd.  Our older children will have the opportunity to make the climb to Mt. Tom from the Interpretive Center (a distance of 1.25 miles) ALL up hill!  Then they will return via the delightful descent down the hill afterward.  The youngest children and those in strollers can simply make the hike up the wooded path from the parking lot at the base of the hill.

Our goal is to raise $100 for our family to purchase seeds and other items to help the people we will be living and working with grow their own food.  One suggestion for pledges would be to pledge an amount for the entire climb.  Another suggestion would be to break down the distance by quarters of a mile and pledge for each part (in the event that a child may not make the entire climb).  Either way, we would love to have you participate by supporting our kids in this walking endeavor.

If you would like to sponsor any of our children in this event, please call them!  They would love to hear from you!  Cybil & Mariah will try the full hike.  As for the rest of us, we’ll take the shortcut!

 PRAYER & PRAISE

·          The container is FINALLY GONE!!!  YEAH!!!
